Amine Scrubbing Technology

Ultra-high purity biogas upgrading technology using chemical absorption to remove carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide.

Ultra-High Purity Upgrades

Biogas Purification by Amine Scrubbing

Our advanced Amine Scrubbing CO₂ & H₂S Purification System is specially designed to remove Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) and Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) from raw biogas through a highly efficient chemical absorption process using an amine solvent solution.

The system selectively absorbs acidic gases such as CO₂ and H₂S, resulting in a purified methane-rich gas stream suitable for Bio-CNG production, power generation, industrial heating, and vehicle fuel applications.

Absorption Loop

1. Gas Absorption & Separation

1
1. Gas PressurizationRaw biogas from the digester is initially pressurized using a low-pressure blower to approximately 0.6 kg/cm²g to overcome system pressure drops.
2
2. CO₂ & H₂S Removal by Amine AbsorptionPressurized gas enters the Amine Absorber Column, contacting a Monoethanolamine (MEA) solution which selectively binds acid gases.
3
3. Methane-Rich Gas SeparationPurified methane-rich gas exits from the top of the absorber column while the CO₂ & H₂S-rich solvent goes to regeneration.
4
4. Gas DehumidificationMethane passes through a dehumidifier to separate condensable water vapors, improving downstream compression protection.
5
5. Methane Drying & CompressionDried high-purity Bio-CNG is compressed for vehicle cascades, cylinder bottling, or grid pipeline injection.
Regeneration Loop

2. Solvent Stripping & Recycling

6
6. CO₂ & H₂S Stripping (Amine Regeneration)The rich amine solution is heated inside a Stripper Column using steam from a boiler, releasing the bound acidic gases and restoring absorption capacity.
7
7. CO₂ Rich Gas Venting / RecoveryThe desorbed carbon dioxide gas stream can be safely vented or compressed for downstream industrial CO₂ applications.
8
8. Amine Cooling & RecirculationHot regenerated amine passes through a heat exchanger and cooler to drop to ambient temperature before returning to the absorber.
9
9. Heat Recovery SystemEnergy-efficient design recovers up to 60% of process heat for digester warming or hot water up to 55°C, reducing plant OPEX.
* MEA (Monoethanolamine) provides extremely fast absorption kinetics, making it ideal for systems requiring high gas throughputs.
